Partisan Gridlock Leaves Ukraine Aid in Limbo as Arms Supplies Dwindle
• The Senate blocked a $111 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and other priorities due to partisan disagreements over immigration policy. This leaves Ukraine's arms supplies severely depleted.
• America has provided $44 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the start of the war, but this is shrinking fast as weapons stocks run low and cannot be sufficiently replenished.
• Europe has now overtaken America in pledges of overall aid to Ukraine, committing €148 billion vs America's €71 billion. But America still leads in immediate military assistance.
• Europe is also falling short of arms promises, unable to supply 1 million shells by March as pledged. Some countries are halting weapons supplies altogether.
• With Western artillery production lagging far behind Russia's, Ukraine's army is now digging in to defend, but its ability to hold lines depends on renewed Western aid that remains stalled by politics.
