UK's Gigantic Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm Generates First Power

The 'world's largest offshore wind farm', Dogger Bank Wind Farm, produced its first power over the weekend when a turbine started generating electricity.

Located off the northeast coast of England, the massive project will have a total capacity of 3.6 gigawatts once fully operational.

Dogger Bank is being developed in 3 phases and uses GE's giant Haliade-X turbines with 351 ft long blades.

The UK government welcomed the news as offshore wind is critical for renewable energy and net zero goals.

While called the world's largest, Dogger Bank is still under construction unlike the fully operational Hornsea 2 in the UK which is currently the largest installed offshore wind farm.
