Valve drops Mac support for CS:GO, cites less than 1% of players on platform

Mac owners make up "less than 1 percent of active CSGO players" according to Valve, leading them to discontinue Mac support for Counter-Strike 2.

Valve says dropping Mac support, along with outdated DirectX 9 and 32-bit OSes, represents discontinuing support for less than 1% of CSGO players.

CSGO will remain playable on Mac until January 1, 2024, after which functionality may degrade without official support.

Valve is offering refunds on CS2's $14.99 Prime Status upgrade for affected Mac and DirectX 9 users who bought it recently.

Apple is trying to encourage Mac gaming with tools like the Game Porting Toolkit, but lack of games remains an obstacle.
