AMD Reportedly Readies Faster Ryzen 5000XT CPUs, Up To 12 Cores at 4.9GHz on AM4
- AMD has seemingly announced new Ryzen 5000XT CPUs based on Zen 3 that will work with existing AM4 motherboards
- The Ryzen 5000XT range appears to be an expanded lineup, similar to the 3000XT CPUs released in 2020 as faster versions of 3000 series chips
- Potential specs for 5000XT models include the 5900XT with 12 cores & 4.9GHz boost, 5800XT with 8 cores & 4.9GHz boost, and 5600XT with 6 cores & 4.7GHz boost
- Details are limited as the announcement came from an AMD presentation in China shared by a leaker - there's no confirmation of an international launch yet
- Older AM4 motherboards, even with X370 chipsets, may be able to run these new 5000XT chips if they get a compatible BIOS update, though it could require dropping support for older Ryzen CPUs
