New MacOS Update Brings iPhone-Style Widgets to Desktop
-
The new widgets in macOS Sonoma are built on the same framework as iPhone/iPad widgets so they have similar sizes and can sync automatically.
-
Widgets sit freely on the desktop or can snap to a grid, and clicking the desktop hides open windows to reveal all widgets.
-
Interacting with desktop widgets works like mobile, e.g. checking off Reminders tasks, opening Safari links, starting app timers.
-
Add/edit widgets by right-clicking the desktop and choosing the widgets option to open an iPad-style widget picker.
-
Widgets added on iPhone will automatically show up on Mac desktop widgets if using the same Apple account, even without the app.
