Amazon Recalls Potentially Unsafe Solar Eclipse Glasses in Illinois and Missouri

Solar eclipse glasses sold on Amazon and in stores in Illinois and Missouri were recalled for potentially failing to meet safety standards.

The recalled glasses were labeled "EN ISO 12312-12022" but should be labeled "ISO 12312-2" to be properly certified.

Online retailer Amazon emailed customers warning them not to use the recalled glasses due to safety concerns.

The American Astronomical Society said dangerous fake eclipse glasses have entered the market and warned they are not dark enough to view the sun safely.

Real solar eclipse glasses should make the sun appear faint and comfortably bright in white, yellow or orange when viewed for about a second.
