TikTok Testing Longer 15-Minute Videos to Compete with YouTube
-
TikTok is testing allowing users to upload 15-minute videos, up from the current 10-minute limit. This test is with a small group of users in select regions.
-
The longer video length gives creators more flexibility for content like recipes, tutorials, education, comedy, etc.
-
This puts TikTok in more direct competition with YouTube for longer-form video creators.
-
TikTok has also tested a full horizontal screen mode to further compete with YouTube.
-
Not all users may welcome longer videos, as TikTok is known for short, entertaining clips. The company is aware of this with the launch of video fast forwarding.
