Luxembourg Tops 2024 GDP Per Capita Rankings; India Ranks 129th Despite 5th Largest Economy

Luxembourg has the highest GDP per capita in 2024 at $140,312. Other top countries are Ireland, Switzerland, Norway, and Singapore.

India ranks 129th out of 200 countries in GDP per capita, at $9,180 when adjusted for purchasing power parity.

The IMF forecasts slower global economic growth of 3.1% in 2024 due to higher interest rates, lower government spending, and slower productivity growth.

While India's per capita GDP is lower than many countries, its total economic output is 5th largest globally, behind the U.S., China, Japan and Germany.

Slower global growth is projected in 2024-2025 compared to 2000-2019, dropping from 3.8% to around 3.1-3.2% average.
