Toys R Us Plans Major U.S. Comeback with 24 New Flagship Stores Starting in 2023

Toys R Us is planning a major U.S. comeback, with up to 24 new flagship stores starting as early as 2023.

The toy retailer will also open airport stores starting in November 2022 at Dallas Fort Worth airport, and on cruise ships.

This expansion continues the slow revival of Toys R Us after its bankruptcy and liquidation in 2017-2018.

Parent company WHP Global acquired Toys R Us in 2021 and has increased its global footprint by over 50% since.

The new flagship stores will be immersive, modeled after the current two-level New Jersey location, which will likely remain the largest.
