TSMC to Build $65 Billion Semiconductor Complex in Arizona, Adding Thousands of Tech Jobs

TSMC awarded $6.6 billion in CHIPS Act grants to build 3 semiconductor fabrication plants in Phoenix, Arizona, adding to $5 billion in government loans
With this deal, TSMC agreed to expand its investment in Arizona to $65 billion total
The factories aim to bring 6,000 high-wage tech jobs and 20,000 construction jobs to Arizona
The factories will allow TSMC to manufacture advanced chips and do advanced packaging on US soil, reducing overseas shipping
The factories plan to manufacture tens of millions of advanced smartphone, autonomous vehicle, and AI data center chips annually, including 4nm and 3nm chips for future Apple products
