Empty Passenger Jets Collide at Heathrow Airport; No Injuries
-
Two empty Boeing passenger jets collided on the ground at London's Heathrow Airport on Saturday. A Virgin Atlantic 787 was being towed when its wingtip hit a parked British Airways airplane.
-
No passengers were onboard either aircraft and no injuries were reported. Operations at Heathrow were not affected.
-
Both airlines said their engineers are assessing the damage. Virgin has provided an alternative aircraft to limit impact, while the BA jet has been taken out of service.
-
Witness Alex Whittles said the angle of the tug towing the Virgin jet seemed "completely wrong" and a collision looked inevitable. Emergency crews responded quickly.

The jets collided at Heathrow's Terminal 3. The airport said it is working with emergency services and both airlines in responding to the incident.
