UAW Strike Leads Automakers to Lay Off Thousands More Workers

Chrysler-parent Stellantis announced layoffs of another 570 workers and GM cuts of nearly 200 employees due to UAW strike.

Ford said 70 more workers laid off in Michigan, bringing total to 1,865 since strike began.

Stellantis layoffs include 520 at Trenton engine plant and 50 at Indiana casting plant due to storage constraints.

GM increased layoffs by 200 to 2,300, affecting 6 plants including Lansing and Toledo.

The UAW strike began Sept. 15 and workers are not expected to return until resolved.
