Volkswagen Workers in Tennessee File for Union Election, UAW Says Company Tried to Block Organizing

Volkswagen workers in Chattanooga, Tennessee filed a petition to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) union after a majority signed cards.
This is the UAW's first union election filing since launching a major campaign to organize 150,000 auto workers at non-union plants.
The UAW says VW is the only VW plant globally without union representation and has filed charges against VW for alleged union busting.
Over 50% of the 4,000 workers signed union authorization cards in support of the UAW.
The UAW previously came close to winning union elections at the plant in 2014 and 2019 but lost after opposition from anti-union groups.
