India Sees 22% Surge in Retail Investors in 2022, Uttar Pradesh Overtakes Gujarat as 2nd Top State
- India had over 8.49 crore registered investors as of December 25, up 22.4% from last year
- Uttar Pradesh overtook Gujarat to become the 2nd state with most investors at 89.5 lakh
- Maharashtra remains the top state with most investors at 1.48 crore
- Bihar saw the highest growth rate in investors at 36.6%
- Greater awareness and ease of online trading drove 22.4% growth in total investors across India
