Virginia school board member arrested for participating in Capitol riot
-
A Virginia school board member, Miles Adkins, was arrested and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct for his actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
-
Adkins was among the first to breach the Capitol and helped others get inside. He bragged on Facebook about drinking alcohol inside.
-
Adkins has faced calls to resign over offensive social media comments and comparing board members to Hitler.
-
Another school board member said prosecutions related to Jan. 6 are a "travesty of justice" and those who stormed the Capitol "didn't do anything wrong."
-
Adkins has a criminal record including leaving the scene of an accident and public intoxication. He was recently charged with DWI but says he was just texting.
