Goldman's Stephanie Cohen departs after 25 years to become Cloudflare's first chief strategy officer

Stephanie Cohen, one of Goldman Sachs' most senior female leaders, is leaving to become the first chief strategy officer at Cloudflare, a tech company.

Cohen wants to focus fully on technology instead of having it just be part of her role. She was increasingly drawn to the tech side at Goldman.

Cohen takes her experience from 25 years at Goldman, especially on the strategy side, to Cloudflare which aims to improve internet security and performance.

The move is aspirational for women at Goldman, though several senior female leaders have left amid calls to further diversify leadership.

After considering if she was still learning and happy in her role during a sabbatical, Cohen ultimately decided to "run toward" the technology space.
