Apple debunks common iPhone myths about rice, background apps, and more
• Don't put your iPhone in rice to dry it out - Apple says doing so could allow rice particles to damage your phone. Gently tap it against your hand instead.
• Letting a wet iPhone sit for at least 30 minutes before trying to use it again can help. Don't use a hair dryer or paper towels on the charging port.
• Closing background apps doesn't save battery life or reduce tracking on iPhones - the apps aren't actually running and draining power when in the background.
• Turn off "background app refresh" in your iPhone's Settings to reduce tracking from apps.
• Apple has been advising against the rice trick and closing background apps myths since 2016, but many users still do these things.
