Yulia Navalnaya, wife of late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, stepped into the spotlight to get him evacuated abroad after he was poisoned in 2020.

She announced she will continue her husband's work fighting corruption and seeking change in Russia after his death in prison.

Navalnaya shunned politics before, working behind the scenes to support Navalny's movement. With his death she felt she had "no choice" but to take a public role.

The Navalnys contrasted with Putin's secretive personal life by openly displaying their love and family.
