-
The Biden administration announced $4.6 billion in grants for states, cities and tribes to reduce climate pollution.
-
The grants are part of a $5 billion program under the Inflation Reduction Act and build on earlier planning grants.
-
Applicants can propose projects to cut emissions, boost jobs, and aid disadvantaged communities. Projects can include greening schools, new clean energy, and building upgrades.
-
Some states declined initial planning grants and can't apply now, but cities in those states can apply directly.
-
Grants will be awarded starting next fall. The deadline to apply is spring 2024.
